International Chicago Tango Fest!

Thank you for your interest in our Chicago tango festival! The 2010 International Chicago Tango Fest has been transformed into Tango on the Town at the Old Town School of Folk Music! Due to an ongoing labor dispute between the hotel and Local 1 Union we have moved our festival to avoid any discomfort to our participants.

Life is always changing and evolving, and this situation has given us the opportunity to, not only continue with our event, but to transform it into an extraordinary and unique festival, overflowing with all things tango. We have the pleasure to announce that we have partnered with the prestigious Old Town School of Folk Music to continue fueling your tango obsession.

Tango on the Town departs from tradition with a fresh local spin and a more personalized, intimate format. This new and exhilarating dance & music phenomenon, jointly sponsored by American Tango Institute and Old Town School of Folk Music, offers something for everyone, with concerts and workshops for novices, experienced dancers, adults and kids for a whole week!
Our goal has been to create a more intimate activity-packed weekend tango festival at the lowest price possible, and to promote not only the dance, but the music and the celebration of this art form. Tango on the Town celebrates Argentine tango with a full week of outstanding events in some of the most prominent venues in Chicago, such as the Old Town School of Folk Music, Chicago Cultural Center's Preston Bradley Hall and Chicago Summer-Dance. Whether you are a novice or an experienced dancer, we guarantee you will learn, enjoy, live and breathe tango to the fullest!

Back-to-School Tango Camp
MAD-HOT TANGO CLASSES FOR KIDS!
Back-to-School Tango Camp teaches Argentinean tango to children in 5 fun and engaging classes designed to introduce children to the rhythm and movement of tango, encourage self-expression and promote cultural awareness.

Our distinctive hybrid of Chicago's own U.S. favorites partnering with top Argentinean tango instructors & performers will bring a refreshing and contemporary perspective to your Argentine tango experience. They are extraordinary tango performers and instructors with impressive experience who will lead us on a memorable tango journey.

The fest workshops are divided into four skill levels: Fast Track Tango for Novices, Basics & Fundamentals Development, Intermediate, Advanced and Advanced Plus. Before registering please review the guidelines to determine which level best suits you.
