Nina Tatarowicz & Alejandro "Lucho" Lucero

Nina Tatarowicz
Nina Tatarowicz is one of tango's new generation of dancers. Captivated by its soulful expression as a partner dance, she moved to Buenos Aires in 2001 to deepen her study of the art form. During her time in Buenos Aires, she was recognized as an up and coming dancer of the new generation, offering her the opportunity to become one of the few instructors to teach from outside of Argentina. She taught at Tango Elite Argentino and Tango Brujo studios, and performed in acclaimed venues such as the Teatro Avenida in 2004, and El Cubo and Teatro Solis in 2008. Her extensive experience studying with tango masters such as Chicho Frumboli, Eugenia Parrilla, Pablo Villarraza and Dana Frigoli, Melina Brufman, Julio Balmaceda and Corina de la Rosa, and Gustavo Naveira, led her to develop a clear technique and teaching method accessible to all.
Drawing from the roots of tango’s past, Nina's dance infuses traditional elements of Tango with a contemporary feel. Her strong background in partner dance, musicality and body conditioning work through yoga and Gyrotonic contributes to her unique style. Nina incorporates the principles of breath, rhythm and elasticity to create an organic movement and connection experience. Her teaching style incorporates these elements to help her students understand the technique behind the movement. By breaking down the patterns to their improvisational roots, she provides the tools for dancers to express their own personality in the dance.
Nina is one of the founding instructors of the Milwaukee tango community established in 2002. Since then, she has taught in Buenos Aires, Egypt, Lebanon, New York, Pittsburgh, San Francisco, Miami, and throughout the Midwest. Currently, Chicago is Nina's "sweet home" for tango where she teaches, organizes events and performs.

Alejandro "Lucho" Lucero
Alejandro "Lucho" Lucero is one of tango’s brightest new talents as a dancer and instructor. Originally from, and based out of Argentina, Lucho’s teaching experience has spanned the world since 2005, from Buenos Aires and Mar del Plata in Argentina to countries including Russia, Ukraine, Iceland, Ireland, France, Italy, Germany, Sweden and Romania. Lucho has also been invited as a teacher and dancer for tango festivals in Argentina, Poland, Russia, Italy and Sweden, and has performed in shows in Argentina, Switzerland and Spain.
Lucho’s tango has been influenced by his background in music and other dance forms. His dance experience includes other social partner dances such as salsa and swing, mixed with the free-form connections found in contact improvisation. His studies in violin and cello as a youth have influenced his dance to this day, giving a remarkable strength to the musicality behind his movement.
Becoming an accomplished tango dancer involves giving attention to many elements including body awareness, the music and our partner. Lucho believes that the magic of tango lies in the ability to expand our sensory perception of all these elements in every moment during the dance. As an instructor, he presents his students with the essential tools they need to establish strong connections for a dynamic dance, enabling them to climb to new heights in the improvisational experience with their partner.
